To transform oneself beyond the binary of natural existence, to 𝘣𝘦 transformed and metamorphose into something new, not only fresh flesh but a fecund blossoming of the mind and spirit, is an idea deeply entrenched within our society. From trickster tales and skinwalking legends to transubstantiation and reincarnation, into more secular realms of genetic sciences, plastic surgery and AI research, the idea of finding the being further than our own human nature—the Alien Self—has occupied our minds long before we imagined planets outside our own.
